Sergio Hinojosa – Co-President

Sergio is an MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Class of 2011. Prior to MIT, Sergio was a Senior Consultant at Booz & Company in their Mexico City office. He has also worked at SERIMAX France where he developed their international logistics enhancement plan. Sergio holds a Master in Engineering and Logistics from EPF – Ecole d’Ingénieurs and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from ITESM.

 
Alexandre Kuperman – Co-President

Alexandre is an MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Class of 2011. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, his main interests are in Education and Latin America. He is an MIT Legatum Center Fellow, Co-President of the Brazilian Club, Co-President of the Latin Club, and co-leader of a class at MIT Sloan on Education in Brazil. This past summer he worked for Positivo Educacional, the biggest educational provider in Latin America.

Prior to MIT Sloan, Alexandre was a director at GTP Services, a leading security and facility management firm in Brazil where he was the leader of the turnaround period which the company reported record profit. Prior to GTP, Kuperman worked at Accenture in the Consumer Goods Division.

Alexandre holds a B.A. in Business Administration from EAESP/FGV - Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Sao Paulo, and a post-graduation certificate in Business from the same school.

 
Sharon Ruggieri – Co-President

Sharon is an MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Class of 2011. During the summer of 2010 she was an Endeavor eMBA working on a strategy project with a high-impact entrepreneur in Mexico. Prior to MIT Sloan, Sharon worked with low-income entrepreneurs in Mexico and was a Fulbright-Garcia Robles Binational Business grantee working to improve US-Mexico business relations while working as a Structured Finance Manager at Banorte. She has also worked as a Process Engineer at Texas Instruments in Mexico and worked as an engineering research grantee at the University of Puerto Rico.

Sharon is interested in entrepreneurship as a tool for economic development in Mexico, specifically through engineering & manufacturing companies.

Sharon holds a BS in mechanical engineering and a BA in Spanish from the International Engineering Program at the University of Rhode Island.
 
Barbara Almeida – Logistics Manager

Barbara is a first-year student at MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to business school, she worked at Vivo, the largest mobile operator in Brazil.  At MIT Sloan, Barbara was elected co-president of the Latin Business Club for the year of  2011, and she is also an active member of the Brazilian club.  During the summer, she will be working as an associate consultant for Booz Allen in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Barbara thinks that it is too early to know what she will be doing after graduation. 

Barbara holds a B.A in Economics from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
 
Mauricio Sadi Andrade – Panel Manager

A second year MBA student at MIT Sloan, Mauricio is co-president of the Brazilian club, where he coordinates events to promote Sloan in Brazil and Brazil at Sloan. He is also member of the General Management and Sales clubs. Originally from São Paulo, his main interests are around customer relationship management and continuous improvement.

Prior to MIT Sloan, Mauricio developed his career at Itaú Unibanco, Brazil’s largest financial conglomerate and one of the ten largest banks in the world. He worked for the credit card issuer, the insurance company and the retail bank, contributing with both technical and business teams. This past summer, he worked at the Latin American division of Itaú, developing products and services for small companies.

Mauricio holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Poli-USP, where he also specialized in optimization and statistical modeling. Outside of school, he enjoys soccer, movies and historical books.
 
Ignacio del Rio – Panel Manager

Ignacio is a second year MBA student at MIT Sloan. Prior to MIT Sloan, he worked at Bancard, the $3bn Family Office of Chile’s current President, as the Investment Manager. Ignacio previously worked in M&A at J.P.Morgan and in consulting at BCG.  This past summer, he worked at Rhone Group, a $3bn AUM private equity firm, in the London office.

Ignacio graduated with honors from Industrial Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He is co-president of the MIT Sloan Soccer Club.
 
Max Faingezicht - Panel Manager

A second year MBA student at MIT Sloan, Max is pursuing the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Track. Prior to MIT Sloan, Max was an entrepreneur in Costa Rica, where he founded Aluminum Systems, a company in the construction sector. This past summer, he worked as a Product Manager at Amazon.com for the Kindle Division. Max is passionate about start-ups and entrepreneurship, specifically in the Internet space.

Max holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineer from the Universidad de Costa Rica.
 
Marisa Gerla – Logistics Manager

Marisa is a first-year student in the MBA program at MIT Sloan. She is also concurrently pursuing an M.A. in International Economics and International Development at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). At Sloan, Marisa is co-organizer of a class on the Business of Education in Brazil, an officer of the Sloan Entrepreneurs for International Development club, and was a panel coordinator for the 2010 MIT Venture Capital Conference.

Prior to entering graduate school, Marisa worked for three years in Global Debt Capital Markets at Lehman Brothers and also has experience in microfinance and non-profit event coordination. She spent this past summer in Peru as an intern with the Grassroots Business Fund.

Marisa holds a B.A. in International Relations from Wellesley College with a concentration in Latin American Political Economy.
 
Miguel Gonzalez – Logistics

Miguel is a candidate for MBA, class of 2012 at MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to MIT, Miguel worked at Fonterra, New Zealand's largest dairy company, in Mexico and in Germany in a variety of product development, business development and sales roles. At MIT Sloan, Miguel is involved in the MIT Food and Agriculture Collaborative and the Latin Business Club. Miguel holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from ITESO and a MSc. in Dairy Science and Technology from Massey University. 

 
Jorge Guzman - Welcome Day Manager

Jorge is an MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Class of 2011. Prior to MIT, Jorge worked as an engineering lead at Microsoft, in Redmond. While at Microsoft, Jorge led a team of engineers to run the infrastructure behind critical web sites including microsoft.com. Jorge spent his summer doing analytics consulting in Boston. Jorge is a fellow at the MIT Legatum Center for Entrepreneurship and Development and holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Tecnologico de Monterrey.
 
Nhaim Khoury – Public Relations Manager

Nhaim is an MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Class of 2011. Originally from Lima, Peru, his main interests are around IT and ways to help organizations improve their performance. Prior to MIT Sloan, Nhaim worked at Ernst and Young as a Risk Advisory Services Consultant, and then at McKinsey & Company, based out of Lima. This past summer, he worked at Novell in the Solution and Product Marketing Area.

Nhaim graduated from Catholic University in Lima in 2006 as a Computer Engineer. Outside of school, he enjoys squash, chess, movies, and cooking.
 
Luiz Sampaio – Public Relations

A second year MBA student at MIT Sloan, Luiz is co-president of the Brazilian club, where he coordinates events to show Brazil at Sloan and to show Sloan in Brazil. He is also member of the Finance and Innovation clubs.

Prior to MIT Sloan, Luiz worked at Itau Bank, the 10th largest Bank in the world, with headquarters located in Brazil. He worked in Retail and Corporate banking for 5 years before becoming a Continuous Improvement manager at Itau. He worked at Private Banking in Miami during this last summer. With his MBA sponsored, he plans to return to Itau after graduation. 

Luiz graduated from ITA in 2001 with a major in Computer Engineering.

 
Cesar Torres – Logistics

Cesar is a first year MBA student at MIT Sloan School of Management, where he focuses in Technology, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Before coming to Sloan, Cesar founded a professional services firm in Austin, TX, providing IT consulting services to Fortune Global 100 companies in the US and Mexico. A native of Peru, Cesar moved to California eight years ago following a dream of fame and glory. He is still looking for these and plans to continue the search after Sloan. In addition to supporting the Latin American Conference, Cesar is a Track Leader in the MIT $100K Competition, co-president of the Business in Gaming Club and VP of the MediaTech Club. Cesar graduated Valedictorian from Universidad de Lima with a bachelor in Systems Engineering.

 
Simon Tisminesky - Panel Manager

Simon Tisminesky is a second-year MBA student at MIT Sloan. Prior to Sloan, he worked as a Business Consultant at JDA Software delivering Supply Chain best practices and leading high-scale implementations at Fortune 1000 companies. Last summer, he was an Associate at Fidelity´s Private Equity group. Simon holds a master’s in Manufacturing Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an Industrial Engineering title from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Venezuela.

 
Daniela Vizcaino – Public Relations

Daniela Vizcaino is an Economist, graduated with honors from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. Prior to MIT Sloan, where she is an MBA candidate for the 2012 class, she worked for more than four years in Management Consulting. She joined Arthur D. Little’s Caracas office in 2005, and transferred to the Madrid office as a Senior Business Analyst in 2007. She has broad experience in commercial strategic analysis and market assessments and has been involved in several due diligence projects for Private Equity firms in Europe and Latin America. 

 
Jonathan Weisleder – Panel Manager

Jonathan is an MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Class of 2011. Mr. Weisleder is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. Last summer he worked at Merrill Lynch – Bank of America in their Private Wealth Management Division. He is the Co-President of the MIT Sloan Latin Business Club.

Jonathan has worked in management consulting, strategic planning and logistics throughout the United States, Venezuela, Israel, Argentina and Costa Rica. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Systems Engineering and a Minor in Business Administration (2006) from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas.

 
Ramiro Young – Private Equity Panel

Ramiro Young is a 2nd-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He received a BA in Business Administration from San Andrés University, in Argentina, and from European Business School, in England.  This past summer he interned at the private equity fund of BTG Pactual in Brazil and at Khazanah Nasional, the sovereign wealth fund of Malaysia. Prior to business school, Ramiro had five years of experience as a venture capitalist at CAP Ventures, as an investment banker at Buenos Aires Advisors, and as a management consultant at Accenture, in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Ramiro was born and raised in Argentina. He is native in Spanish and fluent in Portuguese and English.
